The International Society for the Study of Self-Injury (ISSS) is an international trans-disciplinary organization that welcomes applications for membership from researchers, clinicians, students, advocates, educators and policy makers across diverse disciplines and from around the world. Membership in the International Society for the Study of Self-Injury is by application and review.
Annual membership dues are $50(US) for regular members (faculty, clinicians, advocates), and $25(US) for student members. Dues will be collected as the 2011 annual conference in New York City.
The application process is described below. All applications are reviewed by the Executive Board of the ISSS. ISSS is committed to increasing membership; application review is to ensure that every member identifies self-injury as a substantial focus of their activities (research, clinical, advocacy).
Applications should be submitted to Peggy Andover (ISSS Membership & Benefits Committee Chair; andover@fordham.edu). All applicants must include a Curriculum Vitae (CV) with a completed application form. International applicants are encouraged.
Membership categories are as follows:
Research Members: This category is composed of professional researchers who include self-injury as a focus of their research program.
Clinician Members: This category is composed of professional clinicians (including but not limited to, psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, social workers, nurses, physicians) whose professional practice and/or interests include a focus on self-injury.
Research/Clinician Members: This category is composed of professionals who have a dual role as both researcher and clinician with a focus on self-injury either clinically and/or in research.
